The Analogue Laboratories Company produced electronic library music for business use from 1971-1974. Unfortunately their unusual recordings comprising of analogue synthesisers and banks of oscillators did not find a niche in the commercial sector due to their eccentric in-house composers unmelodic and frankly uncommerical sound. The company went in receivership in May of 1974 after issuing only 3 annual lab reports - Future 71, Future 72 and what is regarded by collectors as their best recordings Future 73 on their own label Analogue Laboratories Recordings.
Frank Tildsley an intern at the company (9172-1973) recalls his time there – “the pressing plants would often contact us concerned that there were ‘technical problems’ with the master tapes and I had to assure them that the ‘strange bleeps’ were an intentional part of the recordings.”
